Given the time of year and location can be v. cold & v. wet - especially when the run takes you across the top of the moor to "Beggars Roost". Typically has 12 or so sections to run with re-starts on most sections for the bikes, well organised by NDMC.

Patrick James Memorial Rally - the PJM Rally is held in Hafren Forest. It has a shorter route than the Hafren Rally. The PJM has roadwork, which the Hafren doesn't, so you have to be road legal, taxed, etc (although specialist insurance for taking part in a competition is included with the entry fee) - this event is specifically designed for trail bikes but is also open to road legal enduro bikes, solo and sidecar, two stroke and four stroke.  It is run over a mixture of open hillside and forest tracks, and results are decided by a number of special tests which will be timed to the nearest second.  The event includes public footpaths, bridleways and  tarmac public road.  There will be two laps on each day, with the direction being reversed.  Each lap will be between 25 and 30 miles.   The Start/Finish Area is at Aberbiga in the Hafren Forest

Red Kite Rally  - an off-road competition specifically aimed at Trail Bikes and other motorcycles that have some off-road capability. The event will be based in the small Mid-Wales market town of Llandovery and the course will run over the MOD Eppynt ranges near Llandovery. It will likely have two laps of about 40 miles each on the MOD ranges and about a 10 mile route to and then from the ranges making approximately 100 miles of magnificent scenery, exhilarating roads and gravel tracks. The average speed for the whole course is set at 18 mph and there are no "silly" sections. The whole course is chosen to be rideable using road legal trail tyres on even the largest motorcycle. The event is open to almost all fully road legal motorcycles including all 2 stroke TRAIL BIKES. PLEASE NOTE: Converted motocross bikes are specifically EXCLUDED from this event.

The Ilkley Classic Trial - open to cars and a restricted invitation event status for motorcycles. A chance to return to the rarely-trialled (in recent years anyway) Yorkshire Dales, this event is open to a wide selection of clubs including all ACTC member clubs including the MCC and VSCC. Although well outside the normal trialling season we should, at least, have a fighting chance of good weather in a wonderful part of the countryside.

May 18th?????

Taunton MCC

Contact:  Steve Grinter (07989 415922) - taunton_mcc@yahoo.co.uk

Jubilee Trial (LDT) - solos only - many of the sections are too extreme for sidecars never mind cars - about 130 riders - 65 miles on fantastic countryside of the Quantock Hills, Brendon Hills and Exmoor - starts and finishes at the Raleghs Cross Inn at Brendon Hill at 9am - 20 observed sections and special tests. Definitely the highlight of the year - the weather is at least warmer if not drier, and the daylight is longer (v. important). Most trials will forbid walking of a section before you ride it - in the Jubilee many sections can be walked if you wish - if that doesn't tell you all you need to know re difficulty . . . the Jubilee is also much more physically demanding than the other daytime trials.
